La Fondation Place Coco
La Fondation Place Coco has been working with Renwick Development and Développments La Malterie S.E.C. for the last 2 years towards the realization of a project that will bring about a significant change in our community. Aimed at preserving an important element of Montreal's history while helping to support an under-serviced corner of Saint-Henri, the project presented to and recommended by the Office de Consultation de Montreal (OCPM) would see for the decontamination of the property and the restoration and rehabilitation of the Canada Malting site, specifically the violet terracotta silos, the tower, and much of the original 1905 facility for the creation of a unique mixed use conversion angled specifically towards the addressing of many community needs. This project will allow for the creation of social housing, places of employment, destination services, a 6,500 sq ft center for teens and young adults with ASD to encourage social programs and employment preparation, a shared work space dedicated to artists and their craft, a community / event space, public green spaces, a commemorative park, public access to the Lachine Canal and family oriented residences. The project could also include 20 - 30 condo units for adults with Autism.
Ground-breaking anticipated in 2019, operational date 2020. For more information, please click here.
